That only shows that all commercials are just gimmick to entice people to buy their products. Initially, the purpose of those sexy models is to attract the attention of the buyers, then as soon as the viewers attention is captured, the ad proceeds with convincing words that their product is good/superb and effective. Call it hypnotism , if you will. It makes people buy just to try the product and once people do that, their marketing strategy succeeds.

You should not wonder, I dare say! Those commercials tell u that those models are already using those products, not ‘will use’. You wonder if the model is dark, such a stupid commercial director would have made it. And btw, there is also such a thing as ‘concept’ – the before and after. So if they blacken the model for the before part, don’t u think that would be a surer proof that they believe we viewers are that stupid?
No also. I don’t think the companies think thus. They are into business and commercials are commercials u know.

How could those manufacturers otherwise convince consumers that their products work if they feature models who are the exact opposites of what they are trying to market?
You’re right, consumers are no greenhorns that they take advertisers’ words as gospel truth. As they say, “the proof of the pudding is in the eating.”

Skin-whitening products are the most saleable items in Supermarkets and Groceries. Media have done their job in brainwashing the Filipina women. We live in a tropical country, so a morena skin is an advantage to be able to protect us from skin cancer. Morena also goes well with black hair and flat noses.

In advertising, the rule is “to get noticed.” So ordinary-looking people like us (like me rather) would never make it. It has got to be the tall, the pretty and the slim.

Yes, they think that people are if not stupid, at least gullible. And you know what? Some of them are. My wife has sun tanned spots on her cheeks. I keep telling her not to buy any of the junk, but that doesn’t stop her.

Would YOU buy the product if not?
Let’s say I make a poster where a thin malnourished kid is holding a glass of milk… would you buy that brand then?

it’s called “appeal”. they have to be appealing to our eyes.

to make us consumers feel inferior.

It’s not fair. I auditioned for a shampoo commercial, and they didn’t accept me…go figure…

But the Biolink VCO hair conditioner featured an ugly man with super shiny hair…right?
So not all.
